Berkeley's sales tax hits 8% on Friday

The Charleston Regional Business Journal reminds that Berkeley County's increased sales tax starts on Friday, May 1.

The tax collections will be used for much-needed road improvements.
Charleston County charges 7.5%, while Colleton and Dorchester counties charge 7%. The state's base tax is 6%.
