Did you Know: Lake City man was second African American to go to space

The Huffington Post today is honoring the first African American in space by showcasing the second. 

On this day, 30 years ago, Guion S. Bluford became the first African American to go to space but SC native from Lake City, Ronald E. McNair was the second. McNair, a physicist, who grew up during segregation didn't let that stop him from dreaming about going to the stars.

McNair was a crew member on the 1984 NASA Challenger STS-41-B mission -- one that ended in tragedy when the shuttle exploded 73 seconds after takeoff on January 28, 1986. McNair and the rest of the crew were killed.
