Whispering Pines management showcases golf course improvements

A little more than three months since Atlantic Golf Management took over operation of the city-owned Whispering Pines Golf Club, company owner Chip Smith showcased the property’s improvements and changes Thursday to some city employees and members of the Myrtle Beach City Council.

The reviews were favorable, giving council members hope the course can make a financial turnaround and become more of an asset to the city.

“What we needed was somebody that had a lot of golf experience like [Smith] has to come out here and get it turned around,” said City Councilman Randal Wallace, who had seen the property multiple times before Smith’s company took it over in late October.
