Pelicans washout becomes three-day Triple Play extravaganza

Thursday night’s game between the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Wilmington BlueRocks has been postponed due to wet weather at TicketReturn.com Field. The game will be made up when the Blue Rocks come to town on Saturday, May 25. The remainder of the series will continue as scheduled as part of a “Triple Play Extravaganza” at Pelicans Ballpark.

“I’m so disappointed to have lost my first Opening Day in the Grand Strand, so we’ve challenged the staff to create an Opening Weekend Celebration,” Pelicans General Manager Andy Milovich said. “The three-day Triple Play Extravaganza will be a great opportunity to enjoy some family fun all weekend long!”

Friday’s opener against Wilmington will begin at 7:05 but the gates will open at 5 p.m. for fans enjoy live music and $1 beers. Jurassic Park Night will continue as scheduled but the festivities will include a postgame fireworks display. Magnet schedules will be handed out to the first 1,000 fans and fans can enjoy “Fiesta Friday” presented by Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.

The Pelicans will be hosting a second-straight fireworks show on Saturday night. Fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs during the game. As part of Splash’s 15th birthday party, five bikes will be given away during the night.

The series wraps up with a “Sundae Special.” Fans attending Sunday’s Military Appreciation day at 3:05 p.m. will be treated to $1 ice cream all day long. Fans are welcome to arrive early for pregame catch on the field and kids 12 and under can play on the inflatables for free.

The weekend will include Carnival Events all weekend long, including Firebreathing Annie.

Tickets for Thursday’s game can be exchanged for any future Pelicans game, equal or lesser value. For more information call 918-6000 or visit www.myrtlebeachpelicans.com
