Myrtle Beach Speedway opens season on Saturday

This Saturday night Myrtle Beach Speedway opens for the 2013 racing season. 

The track races under NASCAR sanction, racing Mini-Stocks with the Mini-Mayhem rules, Chargers under newly revised Myrtle Beach Speedway rules, and the Late Models under the South East Late Model rules. This Saturday night the action will feature all three divisions of weekly racing plus a kids' bicycle race and the popular school buses.

Gates for for the pits will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstands at 5 p.m. Practice is at 5:30 with racing starting at 8:05 PM. Both Mini Stocks and Chargers will qualify with heat races. Mini Stocks will have a 20-lap feature and Chargers will race for 25 laps. The Late Models will qualify on the clock and race a 40-lap main event. Justin Milliken, Anthony Anders, Sam Yarbrough, and Jamey Lee are just a few of the competitors expected along with 20 to 25 more Late Model drivers chasing points for track, state, and national championships under NASCAR sanction.

The Myrtle Beach Speedway has a full season of racing planned that includes the above mentioned series, as well as visits by the Super Trucks and local drifters. In addition, Wheels of Destruction is back for a second season beginning on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Last year it featured stunts, school busses, a monster truck, and jet car. Myrtle Beach Speedway is located at the intersection of highway 501 and Waccamaw Pines Drive four and on half miles north of Myrtle Beach.  Parking is free and children twelve and under are admitted free.
