Police break up gambling and boxing at park after hours

Myrtle Beach police interrupted about 20 people gambling and boxing after hours Thursday at Futrell Park, according to a police report.

While on patrol about 11:35 p.m. at Futrell Park near 1100 Mr. Joe White Ave., officers said they noticed a group of people in the area after hours and that the group appeared to be gambling with dice and boxing with each other, authorities said.

Police said they called for backup and then approached the suspects, who all ran from authorities even though some shouted for them to stop, according to the report.
