One person killed Monday night in vehicle crash near Loris

One person died Monday night after the vehicle they were riding in was struck by an oncoming Sport Utility Vehicle, according to troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A 1998 Ford Explorer was traveling south on Red Bluff Road about 8:15 p.m. Monday when the driver crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Jeep Cherokee that was traveling north, highway patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins said.

A passenger in the Jeep was killed in the crash, Collins said.

The person’s identity has not been released by the Horry County Coroner’s office.
