Horry County Council voted against a one-year mobile food vending pilot program after months of work surveying the public, perfecting distance requirements and determining what would be allowed for the mobile vendors.

The fear of mobile food trucks taking business from brick and mortar is ridiculous. These types of programs haven't destroyed Charleston's restaurants haven't seemed to have taken a hit, nor have any other metropolitan area across the county. Food trucks open up opportunity for existing businesses -no one is stopping the brick and mortar places from expanding into the mobile food market.
