N.C. man indicted on manslaughter charge in 17-year-old Conway High student’s death

A North Carolina man was indicted by an Horry County grand jury on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a Conway High School student, according to court records.

Zackary Dwayne Floyd, 20, of Fairmont, N.C., was indicted on the charge in the Nov. 29 shooting death of 17-year-old Rachel Nicole Lewis, according to indictments released Monday.

Floyd was jailed for a day following the shooting and released on $5,000 bail, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Lewis, who was a junior at Conway High, died after being shot in the head while inside a black Chevrolet Tahoe in the parking lot of Myrtle Beach Mall, Horry County police said. Lewis had recently begun dating Floyd when the incident occurred.
