Myrtle Beach lawyer Suspended and accused of fraud, forgery

According to an article in The Sun News website Myrtle Beach lawyer Mark Brunty who had his law license suspended by the state Supreme Court is now being accused according to court documents of forging the signatures of prominent local business leaders in a scheme to steal $700,000 from a pair of out-of-state investors.

Mark Brunty has allegedly forged the names of Burroughs & Chapin Co. Inc. President Jim Apple as well as First Federal Savings & Loan in Charleston, Vice President Alec Elmore on documents that were used to persuade Morris and Saul Kravecas who are brothers to invest in phony business deals along the Grand Strand which is according to a lawsuit that was filed in the Horry County Circuit Court.  Morris and Saul Kravecas' investment which was supposed to be kept in a trust account mannged by Brunty is now missing.

“It’s flat gone as far as we can tell,” according to Amanda Bailey the lawyer who is representing the Kravecas brothers "
