Surfside named "Tree City USA" for fifth year in a row
"The Arbor Day Foundation named Surfside Beach a 2012 Tree City USA, for its commitment to effective urban forest management, according to a press release from the Arbor Day Foundation.
This is the fifth year Surfside Beach has received this national distinction. Surfside meets the programs' four requirements for inclusion, including a tree or board department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capital and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation."
