Election 2014 | Incumbent James Frazier retains District 7 seat

Democrat incumbent James Frazier retained his District 7 Horry County Council seat Tuesday.

Frazier received 3,145 votes while Republican challenger Mike Roberts received 2,536 votes with all precincts reporting.

Frazier has served the council for 35 years and his current term expires Dec. 31. Frazier, a retired consumer specialist with the S.C. Department of Agriculture, was the first elected African American to the Horry County Council. He was also the first African American elected chairman of the Horry County Democratic Party.

The community center in Bucksport is named for Frazier for his years of service to the community.
