Authorities investigating after man reports girlfriend kidnapped

Myrtle Beach authorities are investigating after a woman called her boyfriend and said she had been kidnapped because he owed her alleged kidnappers $100,000, according to a police report.

Officers were called about 8 p.m. Thursday to the roadway area on the 900 block of Pine Thicket Street, off Fifth Avenue South, where a 23-year-old man reported the incident.

The man told police his 36-year-old girlfriend called him and said she was being held by people until the man paid them money he owed and said not to call authorities, police said.

The man said the victim called again and said she was being held in a room and didn’t know where she was being kept.
