Assault charges dismissed, records expunged for Surfside Beach chiropractor

Charges filed a year ago against an area chiropractor in connection with a woman reporting she was inappropriately touched during a November 2013 exam have been dismissed, according to court officials.

Albert Vincent Lamanna, 64, was charged with first-degree assault and battery in the incident, but that charge has been dismissed and his case expunged from the system, authorities said and court records showed.

Lamanna, who has practiced in Horry County since 1994, was cleared of the charges in October, and records of his arrest destroyed, according to his attorney, Greg McCollum.

Prosecutors said the charge was dismissed because of insufficient evidence.
