Frankenmatt: Sketch comedy at its best (updated with video)

Nate Mallard, one of our video aficionados, and I were privileged to be able to check out Frankenmatt on Wednesday, May 27, at Theatre 99, and it was a blast. I give them an A+!

The pair hailing from California prepared several skits that together made a one-hour-long sketch comedy in which they integrated Southern/Charleston humor together with a smorgasbord of comedic themes.

Get more coverage in our Spoleto special section. Each skit was loosely based on a road trip of two friends heading to Charleston and the memories they shared along the way. These comedians, Frank Caeti (Mad TV) and Matt Craig (The Office) had me wailing from the third row with laughter so intense i frequently slid off the oddly coordinated chairs adorning the theatre.

You still have time to check this one out: May 29 at 3 p.m., and May 30 at 7 p.m. Don't miss it if you have the chance! Purchase your $15 tickets at the door of Theatre 99, located behind the Bicycle Shop at 280 Meeting Street in downtown Charleston.

Hold onto your seats for our forthcoming video.
