The U.S. Postal Service is in hot water after it purchased the $1.2 million home from an employee so he could relocate to a new position in Texas.

In theory the service will now sell the home for the purchase price.

The 6-bed, 8,391-square-foot home is located on Lake Wateree near Ridgeway, which is just north of Columbia.

The purchase of homes is a standard practice of the of the service, but the price of this home is not. -- And now a new $1 million cap has gone into effect.

Still, many tax-paying critics are concerned that they may have just picked up a million-dollar lemon.

CNN has the story.
