Update August 4: Though it smoldered over night, the fire's out and no injuries were reported. The "larger than a gym" plant is destroyed, but the company said it plans to rebuild.

Original post: Around 4 p.m. a fire was reported to have started at the Carolina Eastern fertilizer plant in Ravenel.

The company employs some 300 people at 40 plants across the nation, according to their Web site.
