A proposal that would have given a Johns Island toll road a lot of momentum didn't pass a Charleston County Council committee vote.

Read more stories on this subject in our Sea Islands Parkway topic page.The proposal to ask the S.C. DOT to pursue The Sea Islands Parkway fell in a 5-3 vote, thanks largely to a group of very vocal people that don't support the project.

But, I think everyone knows this isn't the last chance for the toll road. Look for more news on the next proposal in a month or two, or the next time there's a bad wreck on Johns Island.
