Highway 17 widening gets $3M

Congress approved $3 million for the widening of U.S. Highway 17, the last of the $11.5 million funding needed for the road project. The widening is designed to relieve congestion in the heavily traveled area, and it will stretch from the Isle of Palms Connector to the Park West subdivision.

The Post and Courier has the full story, along with details on the road project. But the whole thing is still a pretty long way off. Construction is slated to begin by summer of 2010, and then will take a couple of years to complete.
