Deputy, bank robbery suspect shot (updated)

Mallard was wanted as a suspect in the July 3 robbery of a Wachovia bank on Rivers Avenue.

First reporting: Just before noon, a U.S. Marshal's Task Force attempted to serve a warrant on Terrell Lamont Mallard at a West Ashley residence -- it did not go well.

Mallard was cornered in a bathroom, at which point he is said to have shot a local deputy in the leg. Officers then returned fire.
