New Business for Charleston's Port

Charleston's port has added a new
weekly service between Charleston and Asia with the Mediterranean Shipping Company. This container carrier will bring a dozen mega-ships
through the Port of Charleston once a week, with it's first shipment leaving
January 15.

"South Carolina welcomes and embraces this new business from MSC, one
of the world's leading global shipping lines," said Jim Newsome,
president and CEO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCSPA).
"MSC's decision to locate this service in Charleston speaks volumes
about our ability to handle larger ships effectively and efficiently."
