Textile's still very important to local job market

The textile industry has a $21.9 billion economic impact in South Carolina and employes 64,759, according to studies done by Clemson and N.C. State researchers. And many of those textile jobs are in the Charleston area.

The report is being used by the industry to reinforce their argument that rumors of a dying industry are wrong. However, the report does say that the future of the industry (like many others) will be fewer, higher paying jobs that are more productive.
