Despite the loss, scoring two runs on the defending AL Champions has to boost our local boys at CCU confidance. What a great experiance for these Colloege kids!

It was only an exhibition game, but for Coastal Carolina it had to feel like playing in the World Series.  The Chanticleers showed their mettle against the defending AL champs in a 6-2 defeat in front of a sold out crowd at BB&T Coastal Field.  CCU used five relief pitchers for one inning and gave up just two hits and two runs.   CCU retired the first nine Texas batters.  In the 4th, the Rangers got a pair of RBI singles from Josh Hamilton and Michael Young to take a 2-0 lead.  The Texas everyday lineup played for the first five innings and Coastal actually outhit the Texas regulars 3-2 and trailed 2-1 in the sixth inning.  Coastal's run came on a double play groundout from Scott Woodward.

Great job, Coastal Carolina Baseball! Holding a MLB team to just four runs is a huge acomplisment and some Professional teams can't even do that! Read the rest of the story over at CarolinaLive.com
