Former Stratford High student drafted to MLB

USC first baseman Justin Smoak, of Stratford High School in Goose Creek, has been picked by the Texas Rangers. He is the 11th pick and is one of the top players coming out of the SEC.

Smoak is a 6'4" switch hitter and finished his last season with a .407 batting average. He hit 20 homeruns with 61 RBIs.
