CCU announces new head coaches for women's sports

Catherine Hewitt, a Conway native, has recently been named head women's tennis coach.  This week Jaime Sellers was announced as head coach of the brand new women's lacrosse program.

78 HewittHewitt takes over the reins of the Chanticleers' program after three-plus years as the director of tennis at Spring Valley Country Club in Columbia. She inherits a Coastal program coming off a 21-9 record and a regular season Big South championship. The No. 2 seeded Chants advanced to the finals of the Big South Tournament before falling 4-1 to Gardner-Webb to conclude the season. 

"We are extremely excited to have Catherine join our athletics family at Coastal Carolina," Yurachek said. "Catherine possesses strong ties to the area and brings a great amount of enthusiasm that is sure to energize the local community. She will be a great leader for the young women on our tennis team and a great part of the Coastal Carolina community."

Sellers comes to Coastal Carolina after three seasons (2009-11) as an assistant coach at Stanford University where she handled the defense and scouting as her main coaching responsibilities.

80 SellersSellers will use the 2011-12 academic year to build a schedule, develop the infrastructure of her program and recruit a team that will begin competition in the Spring of 2013. According to an interview with The Sun News, Sellers intends to utilize social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to recruit.
