FEMINIST ARTIST COLLECTIVE REACHES ENLIGHTENMENT IN 3RD ANNUAL SHOW

Pretty Girls Presents: Pure White Cosmic Light

Charleston, SC, June 15th 2013, Pretty Girls will open their transcendence themed show. The venue holding this event will be The 827 Center for the Arts, Music and Science located at 827 Savannah Highway in West Ashley.

Tickets are seven dollars in advance and ten dollars at the door. The opening is from 5-10pm and includes live painting, spoken word, film, music, dance and other performance art.

This feminist artist collective began in Columbia, South Carolina two years ago. The collective, founded by two young female artists, is supportive of new and upcoming artists.

Pretty Girls started as a collective of 10 women and two men and grew to 40 the second year and is currently still in flux. Each year built on one another thematically.

The initial feminist themed show was hosted by 80808 Vista Studios and benefitted the Women’s Shelter of Columbia.

The second show was held at the Tapp’s Center for the Arts in June 2012. The concept was consumerism and a part of the proceeds went to Friends of the Tapp’s Center to promote their ongoing children art programs and community outreach.

In the third and final installment of these conceptual art shows, the artists were asked to explore the idea of transcendence. Artists from many different mediums have submitted work and the result is an enlightening show.
