Select Health of SC donates EKG machine to CSU

Select Health of South Carolina fully funded the purchase of a refurbished Philips PageWriter Touch Electrocardiogram (EKG) machine for use at the Derry Patterson Wingo College of Nursing and Allied Health at Charleston Southern University (CSU). This donation will provide students with valuable hands-on experience measuring the electrical activity of the heart. The machine will be in regular use by faculty and students beginning in February, which is American Heart Month.

Select Health of South Carolina has been a longtime supporter of CSU health sciences programs, and we’re very grateful for their continued support,” said Dr. Jairy C. Hunter, president, Charleston Southern University. “They’re a key partner who understands the vital importance of steadily producing a talented workforce to address the health care needs of South Carolinians.”

“CSU produces talented nurses who are truly passionate about providing high quality care,” said Cindy Helling, executive director at Select Health. “We’ve hired many wonderful nurses who started their careers at CSU, and we’re glad to contribute to this institution’s success.”

“I’ll encounter EKG machines on a regular basis in my field, so I’m very excited to gain experience on it,” said Alanna Mayernik, nursing student, Charleston Southern. “This tool adds another facet to the incredible education I’m receiving at CSU.”
