Teachers' Supply Closet receives donation from RPWB 'Ten Months of Giving' campaign

Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman (RPWB) has given $5,000 to Teachers’ Supply Closet, a non-profit organization that provides free school supplies to teachers in the Tri-County area.

The teachers work at schools where 88 percent of the students are on free or reduced lunch program. This gift was made as part of RPWB’s “10 Months of Giving” campaign, an initiative to give $55,000 to area charities over the next 10 months in celebration of the firm’s 10th anniversary.

Currently 34 schools at the 88 percent poverty index (based on free and reduced lunch program statistics) from Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties are invited to shop at Teachers’ Supply Closet. The goal is to expand the program to include schools at the 70% poverty index. When that goal is reached, services will be provided to approximately 1,200 teachers and 24,000 students.

RPWB Member and Business Manager Jay Ward said, “Ten years of helping clients locally and nationwide is a significant milestone for us, and we want to do something that not only celebrates this milestone, but also celebrates our community.”

RPWB will give $5,000 to one local charity monthly through September. During October – the tenth month of the campaign, community members will have the opportunity to vote on RPWB’s Facebook page for their favorite charity of the nine previous recipients. The charity that receives the most Facebook votes will receive an additional $10,000 from RPWB. Previous recipients of a $5,000 donation include Share Our Suzy, The Center for Heirs’ Property, The Greater Savannah River Community Foundation (Darnell Committee), SC Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital, WINGS for Kids, and Magdalene House.
