In response to South Carolina Electric and Gas Company upping their rates and a $1.7 million stimulus boost, the South Carolina Energy Office is now providing free energy assessments for public, nonprofit and private organizations.

According to the S.C. Energy Office's website:

Organizations that own their facility and can provide records of energy bills for the past year may be eligible to receive an energy assessment and other technical assistance on energy-related issues. These services will be provided by the Energy Office through a team of energy consultants made available through an application process.

Organizations will be chosen through an application process which can be completed online. For additional information regarding this program, please email Catherine Vanden Houten at the South Carolina Energy Office at or call (803) 737-9852.

Hat tip to the Charleston Regional Business Journal for sniffing this out.
