Is rail transportation possible in Charleston's future?

The city of Charleston and the S.C. Department of Transportation have discussed the possibility of a high-speed passenger rail line along the connecting cities from Georgia to the North Carolina border.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has put in requests for federal grants to study both passenger rail lines on South Carolina's Eastern Corridor and conduct a statewide rail plan.
