Fall Festival at Freshfields Village Welcomes Cooler Days

Cooler days and nights have arrived on Charleston’s sea islands, and Freshfields Village thinks that’s worth celebration. Mark the arrival of the season at the Fall Festival, which will span Friday, October 7 through the 9th. Plenty of family fun is scheduled over the weekend, which will wrap up with the American Music Celebration, a series of free, national roots music acts.

October 7: Stan Gray and The Stingrays will hit the Village Green stage from 6 to 9 p.m., performing vintage soul mixed with Carolina beach music, New Orleans funk and island Ska. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

October 8: From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., families will really get into the fall spirit with a day filling with local goods and produce, live music and children’s activities. The Chris Crosby Duo will perform on the Village Green, and kids can play for hours with free jump castles, inflatable slides, a climbing wall, face painting, pumpkin painting and more. A special Farmer’s Market will feature local vendors with produce, flowers, herbs and spices, sweetgrass baskets, local honey and crafts. Guests can also experience local artwork and watch live demonstrations by the Kiawah & Seabrook Artists Guild.

October 9: Conclude the weekend at the 6th Annual American Music Celebration, which will include three, national roots music acts. Musicians will perform from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Village Green and will include:

•Eddie Campbell with The King Bees: Campbell is a legendary West Side Chicago bluesman who has played with Muddy Waters, Magic Sam and others.

•Randy McAllister & Buddy Whittington: McAllister is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from Texas. Whittington (also from Texas) is a guitarist who played for John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers for many years.

This festival is a prelude to Freshfields’ vibrant holiday event schedule, which kicks off with theHoliday Festival on Friday, November 25.
