More than 50 Airmen from Joint Base Charleston are participating in Air Mobility Rodeo 2011, which is sponsored by Air Mobility Command, July 24 – 29 on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Rodeo is a readiness competition that "focuses on improving our worldwide air mobility forces' professional core abilities," AMC officials said. More than 150 teams and 3,000 people from the Air Force, Air Force Reserve and allied nations are expected to participate.
Team Charleston will be accompanied by a group of civilian business leaders organized in part by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. The group will cheer for our Lowcountry troops in their quest for gold. Team Charleston's civics will host a hospitality tent throughout the Rodeo featuring Lowcountry food and beverages.. Additionally, the civic team has sold t-shirts and organized a golf tournament and other activities to raise funds to support the Rodeo team.
The pep squad of civilian cheerleaders has grown from two in 2009 to 14 this year.

"Our civic leaders are going out to be the cheerleaders for the team. We are going out to support them in all of their competitions, and then we will be hosting the hospitality tents which will be our opportunity to show Charleston as a premier military community," said Cheryl Clark, who leads the group of civics.
