Wait for the beep: Charleston City Hall installs metal detectors

In response to random acts of violence in city buildings across the country, the City of Charleston has beefed up security at City Hall by installing metal detectors.

Don't be alarmed--there haven't been any incidents or threats against any Charleston officials. Police Chief Greg Mullen told The Post and Courier that the detectors, which were installed a few months ago, are in place simply to be safe rather than sorry.

So, if you plan to attend any future city council meetings or the like, consider this your heads up.
