Platt's ballot bid gets new challenge

Charleston County Democratic Party is asking courts to prevent Green Party candidate Eugene Platt from campaigning this election season.

Platt wants to serve as state House representative to James Island's District 115, but lost in the Democratic primary. Ever since then a battle has been brewing over wether or not Platt should be allowed to run as the Green party's candidate.

Back in August the ACLU took up Platt's torch and filed a lawsuit to get him on the ticket, but the Democratic Party is concerned Platt's bid could draw Democrat votes away from their efforts to unseat a Republican incumbent.

Ballot Access News says the courts are likely to give the Democrats the right to intervene.
