North Charleston passes no-burn ordinance

On Thursday evening, the North Charleston City Council passed a no-burn ordinance which states that if you're caught burning leaves or other yard debris you may be slapped with up to $500 worth of fines.

The ban passed on a 7-3 vote and takes effect immediately.

Still permitted under the ordinance are the obvious instances such as grilling food, using a portable fireplace, using a wood-burning stove, or outdoor fires for oyster roasts.

Hop over to The Post and Courier's piece for additional details on the new ordinance.
