Gov. Mark Sanford has had quite the wrist-slap for his marital infidelities and going missing for several days.

Read more stories on this subject in our Mark Sanford topic page. But the gov' assured us he was staying on the job to "get the state back on track." And now word has come that he's taking several more days off to focus on his marriage.

Well the former editorial writer from The State, Brad Warthen, has some keen insight about the governor's absence, in part:

Twelve out of the last 28 days actually on the job… Folks, I’ve been unemployed since March, and I haven’t had the spare time to so much as go to the beach for a day. I’m busy on a freelance job today (which I’m about to get back to), and I’ll be busy tomorrow, and I’ll continue to stay busy until I land a full-time job, and will be busy for a long time after that.

To which all I can think: Has he thought about running for governor? Seems like a nice gig.

But piece is good and has keen insight, it's well worth a read.
