While being interviewed for The Atlantic's "First Draft of History" conference, Republican senator from South Carolina, Lindsey Graham was asked about fringe elements of the Right, like the Birthers.

Read more stories on this subject in our Lindsey Graham topic page.His response was surprisingly straightforward: "So I'm here to tell you that those who think the president was born somewhere other than Hawaii are crazy. He's not a Muslim. He's a good man."

[And, yes, he later went onto explain that the comment was not: He is not Muslim and is therefore a good man. -- You think politicians would have that down by now.]
