Beware strong rip currents at Charleston's beaches this weekend

While Hurricane Bill is not expected to directly impact Charleston, its ocean swell will amplify an already volatile conditions at Charleston's beaches this weekend.
Stronger and more frequent rip currents are probable and the National Weather Service is advising that only experienced swimmers should enter the water. The service also notes that rip currents most frequently form near sandbars, groins, piers, and low spots along beaches.
If you do get stuck in a rip currents powerful pull away from the beach, remember not to tire yourself fighting it. The National Weather Service has a page of helpful tips.
