Forecast says: Charleston may get 1-3 inches of snow on Friday (updated x3)

Image by NOAA The situation as of 1:15 p.m. on Friday, February 12.

Update February 12, 2 p.m.: It's looking more and more like we'll have some snow that sticks at least for a bit. Unfortunately you may have a hard time seeing it as the majority of snow should come after the sun sets and before 2 a.m.

If you want to see some snow, the further you get from the ocean and lakes the better your chances. The National Weather Service is saying 1-2 inches may hit near-ocean spots, 2-3 in coastal areas, and 3+ in inland South Carolina.

If you don't have to drive tonight, don't. If you do have to, be careful.

Update February 12, 11:30 a.m.: There are numerous event cancellations and school closings that are popping up left and right, keep up with all of them here at Live 5 News.

The Post and Courier also has a list going.

First reporting: As potential reward for enduring a week of crazy weather, Friday may well bless us with a bit of snow accumulation.

There's a wave of moisture heading towards us from the south and the thinking is that could mix with our cold weather and drop as much as one to three inches on coastal South Carolina areas (2-4 inland.)

Snow or not, it's looking pretty likely that moisture will be falling from the sky on Friday night.

Head on over to the National Weather Service's Charleston forecast for the latest.

Update February 12: If you're flying, watch out as many flights from/to Charleston are being canceled for Friday.
