Community Dialog: Horry County beach water worst in the state

Flickr user J_Sturg

While the state of South Carolina's beach water ranks among the best in the nation, Horry County doesn't fair too well in the recent Natural Resource Defense Council study

It wasn't all of Horry County, the biggest culprits on the list were:  Surfside Beach and Myrtle Beach -this includes Myrtle Beach State Park. I would have to agree that the beaches at the state park are rather disgusting compared to some of the other beaches in the area. Cigarette butts, soda cans and general waste is all over the beach at any given time of the day and honestly, since it is a paid beach, this is unacceptable to me personally.

What say you Digitel readers? What are your thoughts on the quality of the water and the beach itself along the Grand Strand?
