Summerville’s Saw Mill Branch canal is a treasure trove for fossils, but all the digging that has occurred is causing a real erosion problem.

Though some of the fossils found at the site are quite impressive and can rake in a pretty penny, the majority of people digging into the canal have no idea what they're doing.

The damage to the canal has become so severe that the town council has enforced an ordinance that prohibits people from the digging holes into the canal banks.
