Update December 9:

Live 5 News has a few more details, but still a mystery.

I find in urban environments a pair of earplugs can prove worthwhile.

Update December 8:

The Post and Courier has a bit more info on what happened; read it here.

First reporting:

Around 6 a.m. this morning the local Twitter scene got an early dose of traffic as the bells of St. John's Lutheran church in downtown Charleston rang, and rang, and rang.

And the bells continued to do so for what appears to have been at least an hour.

The bells of a church around the corner have been ringing for over an hour. Please note that it is 6:00am. I want blood for this. #chs

Live 5 News seems to be on the case, we'll get you connected with more info as we hear it.

The church is on the corner of Clifford and Archdale streets.
