Treasurer Loftis to promote financial literacy at elementary schools

State Treasurer Curtis Loftis to promote financial literacy during statewide school tour. Elementary schools statewide will receive free computer software to teach kids financial awareness. Treasurer Loftis to visit selected schools beginning on May 11.

Press Release- State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will visit schools statewide starting on May 11 to promote financial literacy and share his experiences as the state’s chief banker in addition to running a successful business.

State Treasurer Curtis Loftis is partnering with Visa, Inc. to distribute free financial literacy computer software to all public, private and charter elementary schools registered with the Department of Education. The Treasurer will award six schools with complimentary computer tablets, provided by Visa, loaded with the financial literacy software.

“It is my pleasure to meet with our future leaders to speak about the importance of knowing how to save and manage money,” Treasurer Loftis said.  “I hope teaching our future generations financial literacy will inspire some elementary students to could become CEO’s or perhaps a State Treasurer.  Thanks to Visa for partnering with our office to provide this valuable service to our elementary schools at no cost to the taxpayer.”
