Update 6/7/12:  Chris Elderidge is set to start work as Horry County's new administrator on June 18, 2012.

The Sun News reports that he will have a $150,000 annual salary and generous severance package should his employment contract be ended early, like his predecessor.  You can read more details here.

First report: Marty Lawing and John McCue were two of the top three who made the cut of over 100 applicants for the Horry County Administrator job, left open after the release of John Weaver back in November. It was Chris Elderidge, though, who will move on in the process.

Yesterday, County Council met and have agreed to begin contract negotiations with Chris Eldrige, the City Administrator for Georgetown.  He's held that position since 2009.

In this Sun News story, you can read more about Mr. Eldrige's qualifications and concerns for our area.  He has a strong interest in keeping current road construction projects on schedule and cooperation between County departments and agencies.

The salary range for the position is $116,374 to $174,561 and the previous administrator's contract included two years of service.
