More construction headed for I-26 in Berkeley County

Earlier this week, the State Infrastructure Bank gathered together and voted to use $15 million to widen Interstate 26 through Berkeley County.

According to Representative Chip Limehouse, the reason for the project is simple: two major distribution centers are thinking about coming to the area, and they won't finalize that decision unless money was allocated for the I-26 project. Additionally, the widening will help to relieve congestion on Highway 17A and US 176.

The goal is for construction to begin in late 2013 and be completed by 2015.
