Experts estimate more than 1 million S.C. residents are without health insurance

According to U.S. Census estimates, over 1 million South Carolina residents are without health insurance - that's one in every four people.

Data recorded in 2006 and released yesterday states that about 19.2 percent of South Carolinians have no form of health insurance. Counties along the coast have the worst rates with Charleston County's uninsured rate coming in at over 22 percent.

There are many contributing factors to why South Carolina is in such dire straits, and it doesn't look like we're going to get out of this predicament any time soon.
