A call to address the risks of climate change

A new report urges government and leadership to do more to reduce the risk of damage from natural disasters.

Namely, the group composed of The Heinz Center, Ceres, and others says that by building strong and in the right places we can "reduce our risks and our costs by 50 percent or more."

And The New York Times has put together a piece on the report that prominently mentions conditions in the Lowcountry.

Running largely counterpoint to that: Developers are pushing to reclassify land off Kiawah Island that has for years been classified as to risky for federal flood insurance.
