John "Jay" Ford, a senior and accounting major at the College of Charleston, died unexpectedly this week.

A transfer from Marshall University in West Virginia, Ford became enamored with the campus when his family bought a retirement home in Murrells Inlet.

The family asked the College of Charleston to convey this message to Ford's friends and fellow students:

Jay felt at home and welcome at the College and truly loved being here.
