Ten South Carolina schools will have the chance to win a coveted Palmetto's Finest Schools award Tuesday night in Columbia.

Two of those ten schools are from Horry County:Burgess Elementary, and Loris Middle School.

The finalists were chosen after extensive evaluation by educators and previous winners of Palmetto's Finest award. The criteria include student achievement, faculty training, teaching quality and community involvement.

Leaders at Burgess Elementary, in particular, feel they embody those characteristics.
