It was turkey Thursday and as is unfortunately standard, a few kitchen fires got far enough out of hand to warrant fire department response and damage homes.

And it's not just Thanksgiving that gets out of hand, winter always brings more dangerous and sometimes deadly house fires — so be safe and be sure to check those smoke detectors.
